Fundación Educando and Fundación Banco Macro awarded diplomas to Young and Senior Citizens in Jujuy

Jujuy, December 2016. Together with the bishopric of Jujuy, Fundación Banco Macro and Fundación Educando closed the 2016 edition of the "Computing Education Program" and"Trade and Crafts Education Program" addressed to young and senior citizens in the districts of Palpalá, Libertador General San Martín and Perico in open spaces to all young and senior citizens in the three districts. In ceremonies held on Thursday and Friday last week, diplomas were awarded to 705 young and senior citizens trained in Computing and Bakery, certifying the fact that they attended and passed the training workshops that gathered more than 750 students during the whole edition.

The "Computing Education Program" was held from July to December in Palpalá, at the parish Parroquia Espíritu Santo; in Libertador General San Martín, at the school Escuela Técnica Ingeniero Herminia Arrieta and; in Perico, at the parish Parroquia San José where a Bakery training workshop was held in the frame of the "Trades and Crafts Education Program". The referred parishes and the school Escuela Técnica Arrieta are institutions acknowledged for their social work compromise and education record. By means of these proposals they broadened the scope of their reach by quality pedagogical tools placed at the disposal of young and senior citizens in the frame of the programs.

Those who attended the workshop will be awarded a diploma at the ceremonies to be held in Pericó on December 14th at 5:30 pm at the parish Parroquia San José de Perico, in Palpalá on December 15th at 5:30 pm at the parish Parroquia Espíritu Santo and in Libertador on December 16th at 6:00 pm at the school Escuela Técnica Ingeniero Herminio Arrieta. The ceremonies will be attended by Mrs. Susana Elena Lemir, on behalf of Banco Macro, in her capacity as Coordinator of Institutional Relations of Banco Macro in the Province of Jujuy.

Fifty computing workshops of 2-months duration were held, free of charge, in the frame of the Computing Education Program, at a mobile unit equipped with 20 notebooks donated by Banco Macro. Senior citizens not only took their first steps learning computing skills such as text processor and Internet surfing, they also learnt how to handle ATMs and applied basic concepts of financial planning.

From 2013 Fundación Educando and Fundación Banco Macro have, uninterruptedly, trained senior citizens in several districts in the Province of Jujuy. More than 5,000 senior citizens in San Pedro, Palpalá, Perico, La Mendieta and Libertador General San Martín have been motivated and trained by means of the projects and actively participate in the use and benefits of new technologies in their daily life.

In the frame of the trades and crafts education program, 4 bakery workshops were held in the headquarters of Cáritas at the parish of Parroquia San José. Forty senior and young citizens were trained in the basics to bake different types of bread. Workshops focused in the basics of bread manufacturing and Christmas breads. Therefore, at the end of the workshop attendants have a new tool for a better social and job insertion and they receive a diploma certifying what they learnt during the workshop. Baking bread, such an essential and daily product that is brought to the table of many families in the districts of Jujuy.

Facundo Ortiz de Zarate, executive director of Fundación Educando, stated "We are very happy to be able to reach communities, with the support of the church, to provide tools, which are not just more knowledge, but an instrument to build a future."

Banco Macro promotes this training program in the frame of its corporate responsibility policy. This program intends to foster technology as a tool of development, inclusion and improvement of life quality of individuals and communities in the areas where Banco Macro is present.

From 2011 Fundación Educando together with Fundación Banco Macro promote the incorporation of new technologies, computer and ATM literacy for senior citizens in the Province of Jujuy.
